Ayurvedic principles to treat infertility

Agni Deepana: Most chronic health conditions are associated with Ama or Agni imbalance. Ama is the name given to toxins that remain undigested in the stomach after food has been consumed. This leads to various disorders and diseases, such as arthritis, gout, diabetes, obesity, and many more. Agni, which means "fire," is the power of digestion through which Ama is destroyed and transformed into nutrients, vitamins, and minerals (Ojas) to be absorbed by our bodies.

Treatment of Ama must always include treatment of Agni, through the use of digestive and carminative Ayurvedic formulas, as well as proper consumption of meals within the required timeframe. Start your day with a glass of ginger, cumin and ajwain infused tea to keep your Agni activated throughout the day.

Vatanulomana: In Ayurveda, the main dosha involved in infertility is Vata. By applying restrictions on diet, following a routine of exercises and taking prescribed herbal formulations, one can reverse the imbalance of Vata dosha and thereby improve fertility.

Sodhana : Effective sneha-swedas are performed prior to sodhana. The treatment approach in Sneha-sweda (emesis) therapy is based upon the choice of action that best fits the patient’s condition and needs. Sneha-swedas, which include Vamana (emesis), Virechana (purification), Vasti (medicated enema), and Utharavasti (specific enema delivered through urethral or vaginal route) are performed to detoxify a patient’s body. These therapies improve uterine, tubular, and ovarian health and help induce infertility. These purification therapies pacify vata and nourish all dhatus of the body.
